Register to Vote
If you haven’t registered to vote, now is the time to do it. Many states have rules regarding registration, and some may not let you register after a certain date. Visit Vote.gov to learn how to register in time for this year’s election.
Research candidates, parties, and issues
Your vote matters, so it’s important that you know who you’re voting for. Researching the candidates, the political parties they belong to, as well as the issues that are being discussed in this year’s election will go a long way in helping you decide who to vote for. Check your state’s rules and regulations
As stated previously, different states have different rules regarding the voting process. Some may require voter ID, while others may not; some may have early voting, while others may not. Finding out your state’s rules and regulations is especially important in 2020, as some are taking extra steps to protect voters from the coronavirus. Check your county’s election board website to find out what you need to do or bring on Election Day.
Find your polling place
Finally, the last step is knowing where you can actually vote. State’s determine your polling place based on where you live. If you’re not sure where your polling place is, you can use Vote.org’s polling place locator to find out where you should go on Election Day.
